Starting a nonprofit is a calling straight from God.
We are all exposed to the needs of others in our community. We see them, give their plight a passing thought, and then move on. But this is not true for all of us.
Sometimes someone stops and says, “I need to look into that problem.”
This is the beginning of a nonprofit. Starting a nonprofit takes the skills of an evangelist, a missionary, a networker, a fundraiser, and a business person. And if it all works, if the nonprofit is deemed valuable by the people they serve, then the rest of its life is a fight for survival.
The goal in business is to reach profitability. The business goal of a nonprofit is to reach sustainability. It can come from an ever increasing donor base or from revenue.
Jack Griffin started a nonprofit at 17 years old after watching a 20/20 segment one Sunday night. Little did he or his parents know at the time, his life and their lives would be changed forever.
Jack would not let go of the idea that poor families need food, that there is food everywhere, and that food is really hard to find.
Come tomorrow and learn from Jack’s journey. He identified a serious social problem he was bound and determined to solve. With the help of his mom and other compassionate community members, he built a sustainable nonprofit.
It’s an amazing story. It is entrepreneurship at its best.
See you tomorrow at 9 am.
Remember to come early and stay a bit later…
I open the Zoom channel at 8:45 for those who want to catch up and meet new people. Then I start the Chat at 9 am sharp. After I close the Zoom Chat for Entrepreneurs at 9:45, I will keep the Zoom channel open for 10-15 minutes so you can talk to the speaker.
