Welcome to the Family, Grayson

On February 4, 2020, at 11:54 PM, Grayson Thomas Hamilton came into the world.

Kathy and I are blessed with our fourth grandchild. Our fourth boy. He is so beautiful.

Kathy called me at 2 PM that day. I was in a meeting with a client talking through sales goals. She gave me the news, “Lisa and Allen are headed to the hospital. Lisa is in labor.”

It gives me chills as I write this.

I got to the hospital at 3 PM. Lisa was already in her room, hooked up to monitors. She was comfortable and heading to uncomfortable. At first, she made some good progress and then, nothing. The hours passed. Kathy told me, “Go home. Get some sleep. I’ll be right behind you.”

An hour later, Grayson arrived.

Kathy sent me a picture of that moment, mother and child. In that photo, I see the relief, joy, and gratitude of a mother who has just delivered her child. It will be one of my favorites for life.

I am reminded of what Eve of Adam and Eve said when she gave birth to a son the very first time. It was the very first human birth.

“With the help of the Lord, I have brought forth a man.”

Husband. Wife. God. The triangle of life.
